Spot vs Futures Trading in Crypto – Misconceptions & Mentor Insights
Introduction
Do you trade in Spot or Futures?
I do Spot trading as well, but mostly I trade in Futures. Many beginners, when they first hear about Futures trading, immediately say it is haram (prohibited). But let me be very clear — Futures trading is not haram. That’s a major misconception among people who haven’t done proper research.
If you think it’s haram, then do your own study. You’ll learn that Futures trading is completely allowed when done right. However, it does require mental strength and psychological discipline.
Mindset for Futures Trading
Being mentally strong doesn’t mean simply saying, “I won’t panic” or “I’ll control my emotions.” That strength only comes from reading the right books, gaining experience, and staying away from so-called “manjan sellers” (fake gurus who mislead people for views or money).
Recommended Tools & Exchanges
Many people ask me which tools I use for trading.
Answer: I recommend Binance — it is the world’s top exchange and extremely reliable.
Is Futures Trading Risky?
Yes. 100% — Futures trading is very risky.
That’s why I always say: only invest what you can afford to lose. Don’t risk your family’s money or emergency savings. Use extra funds only, and trade with a solid plan.

Introduction
Host: Presenting Mr. Sharif Sahib. Assalamu Alaikum!
Sharif Sahib: Wa Alaikum Assalam. Thank you so much for inviting me.
Q: When did your crypto journey start?
Sharif: I started right after COVID. Before that, I was like many others — doing small online earning tasks and MLM (Multi-Level Marketing). Eventually, I discovered crypto and stuck with it.
Lesson: Like most beginners, I started with small things but eventually found my real potential in crypto.
Q: What is Cryptocurrency?
Sharif: Cryptocurrency is decentralized, meaning no one controls it. In contrast, banks are centralized — someone always controls your money (banks, institutions, etc.).
But with crypto, if you hold coins, you are the real owner. No government or third party is involved. The system is peer-to-peer.
Bitcoin was created to make transactions faster, reduce taxes, and avoid delays. That’s where the idea came from — by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Q: So crypto allows you to send money without banks?
Exactly. That was the original concept. Then came smart contracts — especially on Ethereum — and that created a big revolution. Now we have projects like Solana, XRP, and many more. Each has its own purpose.
Q: Why crypto and not forex or stock trading?
Sharif: I chose crypto because it was my first exposure, and I found success here.
In Forex, you can lose your entire capital — it can go to zero. But in Crypto, there are two styles of trading:
-
Spot Trading: You hold real coins. Prices may drop, but your assets remain safe.
-
Futures Trading: You trade with leverage. It’s faster but riskier.
Q: Which one do you prefer — Spot or Futures?
Sharif: I do both. I have strict rules for spot trading. But my primary focus is Futures Trading. Why? Because:
-
It gives quicker returns.
-
But yes, it also comes with higher risk.
Remember: If you don’t have proper knowledge, don’t enter Futures. Learn first. Practice. Then trade.
Final Words
Futures trading is not haram and not for everyone. If you want to succeed, start by learning, not jumping in blindly. Don’t believe random YouTube videos or "gurus" promising overnight success.
Take your time. Build your mindset. Start small. Stay consistent.
